glass randomally stops working

i'm running a AMD x2 4400 with 2 gigs of ram and a nvidia 7600gt pci express. when i first start up my comp glass works fine but after about 3 mins all my windows convert back to basic and i cant get glass to turn back on...any ideas?

What programs are started when Vista starts? One of them may be one of the ones known to turn off Glass.
